Meet your RGC instructors…

Throughout High School, Hannah and Bridget always had a passion for the 80s and coached competitive aerobics. In 2007-2009, they took out the National Championships but then… life got the better of them and their love for aerobics was put on ice. After years of pining for their favourite decade (and their favourite sport) … it hit them. Great Scott! Why don’t we combine our loves and bring back 80s aerobics. Thus, Retro Gym Club was born.

Bridget Williams

Kia ora, I’m Bridget and freakin’ LOVE the 80s. It was a time of banging beats, the rise feminism, being unapologetically yourself and getting a sweat on. I’m inspired by people stepping outside their comfort zones and recognising that life is not a dress rehearsal… so give it everything and if you do it while wearing leg warmers, then all the better. Besides from my love for the 80s, I have a passion for growing communities and creativity and along side RGC, I run sustainability workshops with my social enterprise Bead & Proceed.

Building RGC with my skin and blister (aka Hannah) has been a dream come true. Our classes are designed for all levels and abilities and most of all, we want everyone to have fun and to feel like they are part of an empowering community! Feel free to check out my LinkedIn profile here or flick me an email if you have any questions: bridget@retrogymclub.com

What Bridget said. Kidding, I have a tonne to say but I’ll keep it simple. I goddam love the 80s. I have a passion to make people laugh, have a good time and feel great about themselves. People call me a wooer, it’s true. I have an overpowering urge to theme EVERYTHING and I love cats despite my ironically cruel allergy towards these majestic creatures. When I’m not taking 80s aerobic classes, I’m either working as a nurse helping the people of Canterbury or performing with Epic Entertainment (Canterbury’s premiere entertainment company). I am beyond thrilled this dream of my sister’s and I’s is coming true, and that’s all thanks to YOU guys! Thank you for sharing this passion of the 80s, the joy of exercising and finding the freedom of getting outside your comfort zone to have FUN!

Anna Ivanova

Hey hi hello, I'm Anna, the newest addition to the RGC instructors and your friendly neighbourhood seamstress. One ordinary evening 2 years ago an ad about RGC popped up on my social media and I immediately was drawn to what these classes were about, so I gave it a go. The rest is history! I absolutely love the 80s fashion, bright colours and funky shapes, and make most of my workout outfits myself. Check out Our Shop section and treat yourself to some cool gear made by yours truly. Outside of the RGC world, I help people stay organised and deliver projects that make a real difference to the Waitaha/Canterbury community. I love a challenge and try to remember to have fun, and that for me is the essence of RGC classes - it's an awesome workout while having a great time. Never thought I'd find exercise that I'd actually look forward to (I know, sounds impossible) but that's what RGC has become for me - a place to be unapologetically myself while getting fitter and stronger - all to the best tunes of the 80s (and more)! But don't take my word for it, come check out our classes and experience it for yourself! Come say hi on my Instagram page @my_threads_and_needles and get in touch if you have any questions.

Think you’ve got what it takes to be an RGC instructor?

Amazing! We’d LOVE to hear from you. In fact, we’re looking to grow our RGC baby throughout New Zealand so please do get in touch and let us know your experience, what you could bring to the team and of course, why you love the 80s!
